I recently made a very exciting acquisition of a copy of an authentic circa 1862 corset pattern. Historical corsetry is so incredibly nuanced and I think it is important to see historical patterns completed in the dimensions in which they were designed in order to best understand their proportions, so I have decided to create a single off-the-rack copy in the original measurements of the pattern (shown in the illustration above), as it was printed in 1862. The finished garment measurements should work up to roughly 37″ bust, 22″ waist, and 40″ hip, but I will post the actual measurements when the corset is complete.
